When I was painting the “fruit man” I thought that this could interest the Chinese Olympics games organization as a mascot but when I painted the “fruit man” it was not my intention to make it for the Olympics games. But I also thought that this should be a special mascot relating the Chinese culture. I know the Chinese just like the French think about food very much and the Chinese especially like vegetables.

When you meet a Chinese person almost all the time the first question they will ask you after the hello is “ have you eaten?” So after the "fruit man” the idea came to me, why not paint a “vegetable man”? Since many people like my “fruit man” and I know that the Chinese eat a lot of vegetables. I was impressed even if I don't eat many vegetables by how many kinds of vegetables there are in China. I was also very impressed by all these colors on show in the vegetable market. I love colors as you know, so why not?

I started with some vegetables that did not match because they are too special. One day it all came together, matching colors and forms, making the “vegetable man” more of a cartoon so people will like it.

I don't want to tell you all vegetables I put in since I don't know yet their names in Chinese.

As I like to sign my name differently each time, you can see all my friends' names, some of my family's and mine on the billboards
