Story
Souvenir from Jiajiang
Thank you kids, I will remember you forever.
The canvas
The red badge on the left of the frame is what I received when I arrived there, I never actually wore it. You will notice that the English writing on the badge says 'Jiajiang Expermental middle school'. I'm assuming they wanted to say 'Experimental' - I found it very funny, it's perhaps somewhere I wanted to teach as an expert mental teacher. The canvas shows a blackboard in the background and on it the white chalk of education. Then I painted a quotation mark, relating the time I started teaching there and used only comas, dots, parentheses, etc., finally arriving at the exclamation mark (middle of the face, nose and mouth) of kids when they learn something. Then another quotation mark to reflect the end of my teaching time there. The other drawings on the right explain the gifts the children gave to me in that very short time as souvenirs. Look at all the details of their drawings and you will see that they even make Chinese people's eyes different from Westerners eyes. There is no confusion there is only pure emotion and view from kids. It was difficult for me to write the Chinese sentence on the badge since I don't know how to write in Chinese. And it was also very difficult to reproduce as much as I could the handwriting of the kids.
