Buy, Bye

I live in Xiamen on the 24th floor of a building. Normally it's quiet, but even on the 24th floor people wake me up with their loudspeakers on a bike, saying, buy something, buy, buy. Then I go to my studio and on the way I go past my door. Every day I see business cards that people slip under the door, saying, buy, buy, buy. Now I am really not happy picking up these business cards every day, not even looking at them and just throwing them right away.

I turn on my computer, and then again pop-ups appear from everywhere saying, buy, buy, buy.

Now I've had enough, so I would like to shoot at their loudspeakers to scare them in the morning when they wake me up at 7 AM. That's what you can see in my sights, the person on a bike. Then I'd shoot at my door when someone is trying to slip a business card under it, again to scare them. And finally, you can download anti-pop-ups program, to kill all these unwanted pop-ups saying, buy, buy, buy. Yes, sometimes I buy stuff like this, but I hate it being forced into it.

I painted two faces in yellow on either side of the road looking at the bike, because normally in China when something happens a lot of people come to see. So I made the border of the picture into two Chinese faces watching what happens when I shoot out the loudspeakers.

I painted a canvas relating to my ˇ°Oliver splashes lifeˇ±, and what I paint says, "to see, not to sell," because actually I have no intention to sell any of my paintings at the moment- or if I do, it will be for really good cause.

And then end it with, "buy, bye."
